Turkish-French, French-Turkish (TÜFÇAT)

With the collaboration of National Book Centre of France (CNL), Literary Translators' Society of Turkey (ÇEV-BİR), Association of Translation of Turkey (Çeviri Derneği), Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey will organize Turkish-French/French-Turkish Translation Workshop (TÜFÇAT). It is aimed that the texts on which the translators study will be debated deeply by all the participants during the translation workshop in which the translators of both languages take part. The workshop will be held in Büyükada, Istanbul synchronously with the Istanbul International Book Fair (November 15-25, 2012). The travel and accommodation expenses of the participants will be covered. The workshop will last 10 days.

Applications Requirements: Those translators who have at least one published translation in the field of social sciences, literature, art, essay or poetry can apply to the Workshop.

Operation Mode: During the Workshop, it is aimed to study the texts on social sciences. The participants will be informed about the text to be given in the Workshop until end of May, 2012.

Designation of the Participants: The designation of the participants will be finalized at the meeting to be held by Workshop Steering Committee in September, 2012.

The missing applications will not be accepted and the applications will be valid once all the required documents are submitted. 

Required Documents for Applications:

1- Bio of the participant and a list of his/her published works. (maximum 1 page)
2- Original text (with line numbering on the left)
3- 4 pages from the translation of the translator that has been published already or studied for the time being (double line spacing, line numbering on the left, some space on the right for notes, the problematic points will be marked if necessary).
4- Short presentation of the Author and the Work. (Maximum 1 page)

The deadlines for applications is 15 August 2012 and the documents should be submitted to the following e-mail in the annex of sample application form:
