With the collaboration of international translation organization, Literary Translators' Society of Turkey (ÇEV-BİR), Association of Translation of Turkey (Çeviri Derneği); Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey will organize a bilingual Turkish-Arabic/Arabic-Turkish Translation Workshop (TÜRAPÇAT). It is aimed that the texts on which the translators study will be debated deeply by all the participants during the translation workshop in which the translators of both languages to take part. The workshop will be held in Büyükada, İstanbul between the dates 15-25 November 2012 synchronously with the İstanbul International Book Fair. The travel and accommodation expenses of the participants will be covered. The workshop will last 10 days.

Applications Requirements: Those translators whose at least one translation is published can apply to the workshop in the category of literature, poetry, essay, and research.

Operation Mode: 3-5 pages of short stories will be studied in the workshops to be held in 2012. The participants will be informed about the short stories to be studied in the Workshop until end of May, 2012.

Designation of the Participants: The designation of the participants will be finalized at the meeting to be held by Workshop Steering Committee in May, 2012.

The missing applications will not be accepted and the applications will be valid once all the required documents are submitted.

Required Documents for Applications:

1-      Bio of the participant and a list of his/her published works. (maximum 1 page)
2-      Original text (with line numbering on the left)
3-      4 pages from the translation of the translator that has been published already or studied for the time being (double line spacing, line numbering on the left, some space on the right for notes, the problematic points will be marked if necessary).
4-      Short presentation of the Author and the Work. (Maximum 1 page)
